Sawmill and Lumber

The sawmill is located near Shy Beaver Boat Launch at Raystown Lake, Pennsylvania.  We can cut your logs or if you are in need of lumber, we have that available, too.  Our focus is primarily on hardwoods.  Contact us for more information.  We are always looking for saw logs, so if you are local to the area and have something you believe we would be interested in for lumber, please contact us.  On site visits and sales are by appointment only.

Milling Pricing

If you bring us the logs, we charge $.85 per board foot (based on International ¼ scale for the
log) to cut live edge boards and $.1.05 per board foot to cut dimensional (square edge) lumber.
There is a minimum charge of $100.00. There is an additional $35 fee for each blade damaged or
destroyed by metal, stone, or other material found in your logs. Please schedule an appointment
so we can be prepared for your arrival. We can saw logs up to 25” in diameter and 17’ long. If
your log is over 25” in diameter, call for a quote.

what is a Board Foot?

A board foot is a unit of volume for timber equal to 144 cubic inches, notionally twelve inches
by twelve inches by one inch. On live edge lumber and large checks, we try to be as fair as
possible with our calculations.

Payment Methods

We take cash, checks (please have check approved prior to purchase), and credit card. We do
charge an additional 5% for use of a credit card to cover the fees charged by the credit card
company. There is a $25 fee plus we charge for any additional bank or other fees charged to us
for checks that are not collectible.

Wood Stickers

Wood stickers are utilized when stacking lumber to allow air to circulate around the boards. Our wood stickers are 1”x1”x 4’. Wood stickers are $1.00 each. Wood stickers are available for sale to those who are purchasing lumber.

Planing Boards

We can plane rough cut boards. We plane both sides of the board for $1.00 per linear foot.

Large Boards

We occasionally have extra large live edge boards. Many people use these for table tops. They are limited in quantity and individually priced. Call for availability.
